Citizen's Online Police Reporting System
In another technological leap forward, the Toledo Police Department has instituted C.O.P.R.S. This is a new online reporting system for citizens wanting to complete a crime report without having a police crew respond. Only certain types of crimes can be reported online but the process will make it easier for citizens to file police reports for incidents where police presence or evidence collection is not required. The process will take you through step by step to ensure the incident meets the requirements for the online reporting process. If a police crew is required please call the TPD non-emergency number at (419) 245-3340. If there is an emergency please dial 911.
Message from the Chief
My first 4+ months as your Chief of Police has been anything but quiet. We experienced both victories/good times and tough/bad days. We lost Mayor Collins and Mayor Ford, as well as a good friend, and fellow officer, Mike Greenwood.
We also had three critical incidents; one where an officer was videotaped striking a handcuffed suspect, we had an officer involved shooting, and had an in-custody death, all within a very short period of time.
I want to continue to assure the citizens of Toledo that each of these incidents is being thoroughly investigated. While I completely appreciate the desire for information to be provided as it relates to these investigations, I must balance that need with the very real requirement to withhold the details until the cases are completely investigated.
On a lighter note, we promoted eight deserving officers on Monday, April 6, 2015. These officers are now assuming more leadership responsibilities and will guide this department for many years to come.
